Fred Jacob Miller Jr. "Jake" age 75, went to be with our Lord on January 31, 2019. Born in Elmira, NY on July 9, 1943. He was the son of the late Fred and Gilberta Miller. A graduate of Elmira Free Academy, Jake owned Pudgies Pizza in Oneonta, NY with his lifelong friend, Butch. He worked at Chapel Lumber and Robinson Lumber, which inspired his talents as craftsman. He joined the N.Y.S. Dept. Of Corrections in Elmira for 20 years before retiring. Jake will be remembered as a kind, caring and generous man! Always willing to help anyone in need. He was a man of true faith and thoroughly lived life. As an avid sportsman, he loved hunting in the woods and fishing in the lakes with friends and family. He was a very talented baseball player and athlete, earning him a gold medal in the Junior Olympics. His greatest accomplishment, however, was his children. He was survived by his loving wife, Christine; son, Scott Miller (Deborah Moody), granddaughter, Vanessa (Tracy) Davis with great grandsons, Jayce and Shane; daughter, Jennifer (Christopher) Denicola with grandchildren, Amila, Chase and Vinni; sisters, Barbara (Charles) Myers, Carol (Eugene) VanOrden, Sharon Woodruff; brothers, Charles and Richard (Jackie) Miller; sister- in- law, Amy (Ed) Wilston, and many friends and family including his Companions Isabella and Eve He was predeceased by his brother- in- law, Richard Woodruff; nephew, Matthew Miller and his best friend, Butch Cleary. FRIENDS & FAMILY ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2019 FROM 3PM-5PM AT THE BAKER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL FOLLOW CALLING HOURS AT 5PM. ELDER JOEL ROBINSON OFFICIATING. INTERMENT WILL BE HELD IN FOREST LAWN MEMORIAL PARK, ELMIRA AT THE CONVENIENCE OF HIS FAMILY.
