James H. “Jim” Krige
Age 78 of Elmira, NY, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. James was born on May 11, 1940 in Pretoria, South Africa, the son of the late Hermanus L. and Doreen Webb Krige Brandt of Pretoria South Africa. James is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rozanne Walshe Krige; son and daughter-in-law, Shane R. and Patricia Krige of Florida and the Bahamas with children, Shane II and Madeleine; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer K. and Myles Lawrence of Elmira with daughter, Abigail Lyon; and son and daughter-in-law, Ryan K. and Elizabeth Y. Krige of North Carolina with son, Warner; sister, Jeannette Roux of South Africa with daughter, Elizabeth; sister, June Elliott of South Africa with son, Mark and daughter, Gail along with several nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and good friends. After immigrating to the United States with his wife and children in 1988, James began working at I.D. Booth, Inc. in Elmira. He was a dedicated employee who took great pride in a job well done, always conscientious, helpful and cheerful. He was a long time President of the TTHA Hockey League and helped start up the SCSC Soccer Club and continued his involvement in both for many years. He was proud to help begin the Recreational Hockey League at the First Arena; he loved to see young people complete in sports and was always there to help the clubs be the best they could be for the kids in our area. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and close friends. He loved his coworkers and their outings at Horigan’s for a BLT and missed their camaraderie when he retired in 2017. If you ever “needed a hand”, he would be the first to help you. He was a wonderful warm soul who made everyone feel special. FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE BAKER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME 640 W. GRAY ST.
