Daniel Paul McDonald, age 78, passed away peacefully in Gulf Breeze, Florida, on May 13th, 2022. He was born on June 11, 1943, in Elmira, NY, son of the late Edward and Sophia Balon McDonald. Daniel was pre-deceased by his sisters and brothers: Betty Drake, Mary Anne Kianka, Edna Maloney, Dorothy Ostrowski, Richard McDonald, and Edward McDonald. He is survived by his three children: Penny (Raymond) Courterier of Florida, Anthony McDonald (Patty Ryan) of Binghamton, and Andrea (Daniel) Stymyk of Elmira; granddaughters, Alicia and Rachel Courterier and Meika Stymyk; his brother, Joseph (Pat) McDonald; along with numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and beyond; all of whom brought him great joy and pride. Daniel was a devoted Christian who was an active member of the church. He graduated from Southside High School, and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965. Daniel worked at NYSEG for 31 years, retiring in 1998 as a Gas Supervisor. He worked in real estate and renovated several homes in the area. Daniel was a lover of adventure and the outdoors, who enjoyed traveling and exploring the world. He was a gentleman, who was always kind and willing to help those in need. Daniel had a playful sense of humor and was well known for his famous saying “Fine and Dandy, Sweet as Candy.” He will be greatly missed. A celebration of life was held among family and close friends.
