Edward D. Patten

Edward D. Patten, age 72 of Elmira, NY, and Bradenton FL, died on Monday, September 27, 2021. Edward was born on October 1, 1948, in Elmira NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth (Pape) and Edward Patten; and Kimberly's mother, Bonnie Patten. Ed is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Elizabeth Patten, Bronx, NY; sisters, Ann Connell, Washington Crossing, PA, Patricia and Richard Harmetz, San Diego, CA, Peg Ford, Elmira NY; and partner, Doug Allinger; numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; and his beloved cat, Nicolas. Ed was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy class of '66; Corning Community College '68; Oswego State '70. Ed was awarded master's degrees' from Elmira College '73 and Syracuse University '87. He was proud to work at NYS VESID in Elmira for over 30 years and was a union rep for NYS Public Employees Federation. His passion was riding his Harley, weightlifting at Club Nautilus, and he was the New York State Masters Powerlifting Champion in 1991. He also bartended at several local establishments in Elmira and loved his job at Bobby K. Entertainment. Ed had a passion for writing poetry. He loved to write special poems for people he cared about.

Since his retirement in 2007, Ed enjoyed working as a maintenance technician at his residence at Arbor Terrace RV Park in Bradenton, FL. Ed loved to volunteer and was involved in many groups and organizations including the PAL program and LifeLink. He was a strong advocate for organ and tissue donation and loved to educate others. Ed loved meeting new people, making others laugh, and made friends wherever he went. Ed had a wonderful sense of humor, a strong love for life and new adventures, and was always helping those in need. CALLING HOURS WILL BE HELD THURSDAY, OCTOBER 7TH, 2021 FROM 10AM TO 12PM AT THE BAKER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 640 W. GRAY ST., ELMIRA, WITH FUNERAL SERVICE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING. INURNMENT OF ED'S ASHES WILL FOLLOW IN FOREST LAWN MEMORIAL PARK. FACIAL MASKS ARE REQUIRED. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent in memory of Edward to LifeLink Legacy Fund at 9661 Delaney Creek Blvd., Tampa, FL. 33619 or Chemung County SPCA Route 352.
