Edwin L. Berman
Pine City - Edwin L. Berman, 93, of Pine City, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021. Eddie was born in Elmira on October 4, 1927, the son of the late Max and Etta (Rubin) Berman. He grew up on the east side of Elmira where he worked for his father. He enlisted in the US Army and served in the medical corps in Japan during the US occupation. After serving, he went to work at Rubin Auto Parts, a family owned business where he eventually became co-owner with his brother Harold. He retired in 1997. During retirement he enjoyed fishing, golfing, music, dancing, and annual trips to Las Vegas. He especially looked forward to spending time with his family and grandchildren. Eddie was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He belonged to the Horseheads Elks, the Elmira Eagles, and the American Legion. He was a lifelong member of Congregation Shomray Hadath (Kol Ami). In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernie (Lydia), and Harold (Eleanor). He is survived by his wife Rose M. (Turner) Berman; children, Carl D. Berman (Tish), Lisa M. Fossaceca (Mark), Janet R. Longwell (Chris), and Paul J. Berman (Julie); grandchildren, Josh Kessler, Sarah and Max Berman, Sean Fossaceca, and Wally and Nicole Longwell. He will be missed greatly. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 20th, 2021 in The B'nai Israel Cemetery located on Franklin St. in Elmira, NY, at 11:00am. The family would like to thank the staff and healthcare providers at Care First.
