Obituary

Frank Nicholas Trifoso, Sr., died peacefully, Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, at his home in Syracuse, NY, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 20th, 1927, in Elmira, NY. He loved his hometown very much and spoke often of spending his youth there with family and friends. After graduating from Elmira Free Academy in 1945, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces and served honorably in Germany as a staff sergeant while actually attending the Nuremberg Trials. He was also a pitcher for the Armed Forces baseball team. After serving his country, he attended Utica College on the GI Bill, which at the time was part of Syracuse University’s engineering program. Frank was recruited by General Electric as a draftsman and later became a pioneer in computer aided design for the company. He had a distinguished and diversified career at GE, spanning 34 years, designing everyday appliance parts, parts for the military as well as the space shuttle for NASA. Frank had many friends he loved spending time with in Syracuse; he loved being active playing softball and bowling well into his 70’s. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Syracuse University football and basketball as well as the New York Yankees. Frank is survived by his children: Christine, Diana, Frank, Jr., and Daniel; three grandchildren; brother, Charles (Dawn); and sisters, Mary Cox and Vera (Bud) Brown; and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Loretta Trifoso. Frank will especially be remembered for his zest for life, his wonderful sense of humor, his love of family and friends, and his generosity.
